It’s not an uncommon thing, so you’re not alone!
I struggled with it badly so many times in the past and I couldn’t find out why.
I’d workout here and there, maybe even be consistent for a few weeks to only find myself the next few weeks not even stepping into a gym.
I fixed all of that permanently.
I never have problems with my motivation to lose weight or to hit the gym or to be active in some form or fashion.
Now, on my scheduled days to work out, the night before I’m excited and can’t wait.
Where most people throw in the towel is in the morning time (or whatever time you go to work out) when you’re tired and sleepy.
They’d rather catch a few extra ZZZzzzzz’s, or sit on the couch and watch tv or whatever else the excuse may be.
I had the same problem.
But now, in the morning, I wake up to my alarm clock, get up, excited, go through my morning routine, put my gym clothes on and make the 5 minute walk to the gym.
My Motivation To Lose Weight
When I was overweight, my motivation to lose weight was to be able to look at myself in the mirror, naked, with a smile on my face.
To be able to wear the nice fitting clothes that I used to.
To not be ashamed of how I looked when I hit the beach or go swimming.
And I knew a byproduct of that would be better health, more energy, and a renewed sense of self worth.
That was my motivation to lose weight.
Now, it’s simply to maintain, build up some more muscle and continue to improve on my physique and performance in the gym.
And I pushed through.
Your Motivation To Lose Weight – The Key
The key to getting motivated, the key to sticking to “the program”, the key to getting to your dream body…
Is figuring out your WHY!
Why do you want to go on this journey?
Why do you want better health?
Why do you want to lose weight?
Why do you want to build more muscle?
You know my WHY’s, now you have to figure out YOURS!
Sometimes, your WHY may only be one reason, for others it’ll be a whole host of reasons.
Regardless, write it down.
Ingrain it into your mind.
Those are your reasons for waking up every morning (or whenever your workout days are) to hit the gym, go for that walk or job, lift weights, etc.
But we’ll go a bit further than that.
Motivation To Lose Weight – How Do You Want To Look?
I added an extra strategy to my routine when I first went about losing weight.
That extra strategy included getting a picture in my mind of how I wanted to look.
I don’t care if it’s a cut out from a magazine, a picture online, a video with the physique you want, etc.
Look at it every night and right before you’re suppose to work out.
The best thing to do is to simply remember the physique you’re shooting for so you always have the image in your mind.
THEN, when the going gets tough.
When you don’t feel like working out.
When you feel like hitting the snooze button.
When you say to yourself you’d rather watch tv.
When you say to yourself you’ll skip today and go tomorrow.
You’ll remember your WHY.
You’ll remember how you want to look like.
And you’ll light a fire up your behind to get up and get going.
To make it happen!
To get that dream body, and to KEEP it!
Your motivation to lose weight is all about knowing your WHY (or WHY’s) and getting that image of your dream body in your mind.
