They sent in a picture so I could take a look at what they were working with.
I have to say, it wasn’t bad at all.
It was like most overweight bellies and nothing that would take too long to see amazing improvements in the belly area.
Crunches are an amazing exercise, but should you do them to lose belly fat?
Should You Do Crunches To Lose Belly Fat?
While any form of exercise will help you to lose belly fat, doing ONLY crunches and not adjusting your eating or diet habits will give you very little weight loss benefits.
What you’ll probably get is a bigger gut!
“WHAT?”, “A bigger gut doing crunches?”
If you don’t adjust your eating and you do crunches after crunches, sit up after sit up, your abdominal muscles will increase in size.
Your 6 pack will end up getting bigger.
And that’s fine if you’re looking to build up your abs, but if you’re looking to lose the fat on your belly, probably not the best idea.
In terms of actual weight loss from doing crunches, without working on your diet or eating, you might burn a few calories but it might not be significant unless you’re doing hours of sit ups and crunches.
To lose the stomach fat, the ideal scenario is to work on your diet and eating, while exercising, not necessarily crunches, but cardio as a whole.
Running on the treadmill, outside, jogging, jump roping, jumping jacks, etc.

Crunches To Lose Belly Fat – Is It Worth Doing?
As I’ve outlined above, if you’re not willing to work on your diet and eating habits, all the crunches in the world won’t make your stomach look or feel any smaller, and will probably make it even bigger instead since you’re building up the muscle underneath all of that fat.
Always remember, you can’t spot reduce any area of your body, but I believe you can at least help it in someway.

Crunches to Lose Belly Fat – The Right Strategy
When you combine a caloric deficit, you’re eating less than you burn, and you’re doing crunches, that will definitely help burn the fat on your stomach.
Once all or most of the fat is gone, since you included crunches as a part of your strategy, you’ll end up with a sexier more leaner stomach than the average joe/jane. That’s a great place to be!
