Getting abs is not necessarily an easy task.
If you go about it a certain way, you may end up with nothing but a flat stomach (which some people may be happy with) but we’re talking about getting some abs here not just a flat stomach.
In this day and age, we want things quickly.
We want to lose weight quickly.
We want to get fit quickly.
We want to get abs quickly.
And that’s okay because with the right strategies and the right approach we can accomplish all of those pretty quickly, of course depending on where you’re starting.
The Fastest Way to Get Abs – Your Start
If you’re extremely overweight or obese, I’m sure you’re not expecting to get abs in just 30 days.
If you have a little bit of fat, then 30 days might be just enough time to see some rock hard abs on your stomach.
Keep this in mind when going on this journey.
Some people will need 3-6 months to get abs, which if you ask me, is still pretty fast.
Others will need just a few weeks and still others who are obese will need maybe a year of implementing the below plan.
Regardless, we’re going to be covering the fastest way possible to get abs.
The Fastest Way to Get Abs – Nutrition
Your nutrition will play a huge role in you getting abs.
If you continue to eat out everyday, as much as you want, you’ll never see abs.
But, if you take a conscious approach to your eating and nutrition, the opposite will occur, you’ll see the abs of your dreams.
Getting abs quickly requires that you lower your body fat percentage.
For most men, they can start seeing abs around 10-12% body fat.
For some women, they can start seeing ab definition around 13-15% body fat.
You’ll also need to figure out how many calories per day to lose weight.
Once you have this information, you can then make adjustments to your eating and nutritional habits.
The Fastest Way to Get Abs – The Workouts
The next big item we need to tackle is working out your ab muscles.
We must, must, must work out our abs to get them defined.
We don’t all have abs, even if you do workout using compound movements or workout hard.
If you want to see abs, you must work them out.
I really have to emphasize this because a lot of people believe they don’t need to work out their abs.
It’s a big misconception, so don’t believe anyone who tells you that!
So for the workouts, I recommend working out your abs about 2-3 times a week, with just 3-4 sets.
My ab workout routine generally consists of 3 ab workouts per week, after my weight training sessions.
My ab session runs about…
…Are you ready for it?
5 minutes long!
Just 5 minutes of hitting hard and heavy and I’m good to go.
I believe if you do it right, with resistance, and routinely, you don’t need to spend 30 minutes or an hour hitting abs.
The ab muscles already get hit pretty hard when you’re doing compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench, overhead presses, etc.
I’ll do only 3 sets, with 3 different exercises. So one set for each exercise for a total of 3 sets for abs.
I can get away with doing such minimal amount of work because I hit them hard and heavy, usually no more than about 15 reps.
Other people who hit the ab muscles with high reps above 20 or 30 need to spend much longer time on their abs.
But not you and I!
Make sure to ad resistance, or weights, to your exercises and make sure you’re failing at about 10 or 15 reps and you’ll toast them abs and make them grow, quickly!
There’s a variety of exercises for abs that you can do.
Pick 3-5 exercises and go all out with each one, doing just 1 set to failure.
I personally like hanging leg raises, cable crunch (love, love, love this exercise!), and the decline crunch.
The Fastest Way to Get Abs – The Cardio
If you only work on the 2 items above, I know you’ll see amazing results quickly.
But if you want to accelerate those results, you can add in some cardio.
I’ll try to make this short and sweet.
You can either do high intensity interval training or slow, steady paced cardio such as walking.
Me personally, I like doing both when I’m trying to lower my body fat percentage.
I might do 2 high intensity interval training sessions a week that lasts about 10-15 minutes, and 5 walking sessions a week that lasts about an hour each.
This is the fastest way to get abs without resorting to starvation and endless cardio sessions.
