If you’re looking to lose weight quickly, a simple shake might be a good alternative to a regular meal.
There’s really quite a few options that you could go with here and will cover just about all of them in this article.
Most people look to shakes as it’s fast, easy and convenient.
And nowadays, the options are just unbelievable.
From low cost, do-it-yourself shakes, to high priced, and sometimes even overpriced, “secret blend” shakes, to just simple protein shakes.
The list goes on and on and on.
What Are The Best Weight Loss Shakes – The Benefits
What are the benefits of drinking weight loss shakes?
As I said above, one of the main benefits is that it’s convenient.
You can take a shake with you in a portable cup and drink it at work or at home.
A scoop or two of some good protein powder, maybe even some milk and/or water, and you have a meal ready in just a few minutes.
You don’t need to stress over the calories, in most cases.
And the best part… you can lose weight quickly!
What Are The Best Weight Loss Shakes – Your Options
There’s really only 2 different options that you have:
1) A meal replacement shake
2) A protein shake
BONUS: A fresh juice
Let’s go over each of these in more detail.
A meal replacement shake is just that, it was designed to replace one of your daily meals.
It usually has more nutrients such as carbohydrates, a little fat, and protein and is generally higher in calories than a simple protein shake. Some meal replacement shakes have anywhere between 200 to as much as 500 calories, depending on the brand and make up of the shake.
A protein shake is simply a shake that’s mainly protein. Most protein shakes have a bit of fat and carbohydrates, but not as much as a meal replacement shake.
Some protein shakes can be anywhere from 130 calories to 200 calories, depending on the brand and make up of the protein blend.
A juice is technically not a shake, but I wanted to throw it in here because it’s a great way to replace a meal and get some vital nutrients that your body needs through the vegetables and fruits that you juice.
You’ll need a juicer to juice vegatables and fruits for this option.
I use all 3 options to get great results and to have a little variety.
What Are The Best Weight Loss Shakes – Which Is Better?
That all depends on your goals. What I usually do is use all 3 options above. I love variety and it really helps with diet adherence.
If you want to feel fuller, then a meal replacement shake would be a great option.
If you want to lessen the calories a bit and get a little extra protein in your diet (if you’re weight lifting and/or doing cardio), then a simple protein shake with maybe some milk (or almond milk) and/or water would be a great option.
If you want to feel full, get some good nutrients in your body, and not have a whole lot of calories, then go with a juice!
Personally, I’d try to diversify and fit in all 3 throughout the week, maybe rotating a protein shake one day with a meal replacement shake the next, and then a juice the next day.
What Are The Best Weight Loss Shakes – Store Bought?
Some people have asked if they should buy the pre-made shakes in the store or one of those famous shakes like shakeology, bodybyvi, or slimfast (do they still make those?).
I personally don’t think you need to purchase any high priced shakes. If it’s too expensive, and costs way more than a regular meal replacement shake or protein shake, then you don’t really need it.
I’d save the money and just stock up on meal replacement shakes and/or protein shakes.
I highly recommend utilizing shakes when going on a weight loss journey. Is it a necessity? Absolutely not! You can lose weight by just eating real food, but shakes do come in handy when you want to lower your calories.
The best weight loss shakes aren’t the really expensive one’s, they’re the simple shakes that you can find in most stores, and most of the time, it’s the shakes (or juice) that you make from home.
